Jim Bowen has died. He was 80.
He will be best remembered for the TV programme 'Bullseye'.

Now that's sad to hear.
He should better be remembered as a great stand up and this clip about Bullseye just killed me.

And what a rotten start, we are not halfway into March yet.
Steve Hawkins, Bella Emberg, Peter Wyngarde, Howard Lew Lewis, Emma Chambers, Roger Bannister, Trevor Baylis, Ken Dodd, Bruce Forsyth..... and now Jim Bowen.
Many more not quite so well known except for perhaps Billy Graham, but crikey blimey O'Reilly.

He was old school gentleman presenter. I still enjoy the repeats of Bullseye on Challenge.
Great, smashing... here's what you could have won!
@Minivanman Brucie died last August. Did anyone see the tribute to him on BBC1 at the weekend. Was a nice touch but ruined by Tess Daly's presenting.

It's the end of the baby boomer generation, so a lot of the people born during that time are passing away, and given that there were a lot of births 9 months after the end of WWII, it just showed how happy the soldiers were to be home...

Sad loss. A great comic with some awesome one-liners.

A company I worked for arranged a free week-end away for employees. At Pontin's Camber Sands, yes it was a long time ago...
A lunch time show was put on in one of the bars, and a stand up comedian - Jim Bowen - was on. He was absolutely brilliant, quite the best one-liners I have ever heard, just a continuous stream. The audience was almost in continuous tears of laughter. Stayed well past his allotted time.
Never quite sure why he didn't do better as a comedian than he did. I suppose he couldn't compete with what passes for comedy these days.
He'll be sadly missed.
When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

His original career was as a PE teacher, becoming deputy headmaster before turning to comedy. If he used comedy in his teaching, his classes must have been very popular.

To be fair Tess Daly pretty much ruins anything she hosts so don't take it too personally that Brucies send off got done by her.
Could have been worse though, it could have been Claudia Winkleman!
Sad news about Jim Bowen, on the same day as Prof Hawking too.

That link to him describing the cancelled episode cracked me up.
I would have loved to see that.
Just shows what a good comedian he was as well as a presnter.
Interesting insight into how the show works.
