Re: Jack's hits the high street

Surely this has to go down as an ill-conceived and not thought through exercise by Tesco. Aldi and Lidl is not all about being cheap. There are a lot of high quality products in the range of both stores. Everything that has been shown on news footage reveals a desire to rush to the bottom of the heap for quality and presentation. Even the packaging looks tatty.

In my humble opinion they should Jack it in as soon as possible

It looks like Tesco are trying to convince themselves that Aldi and Lidl are cheap low quality supermarkets.

When in fact they easily compete quality wise with Tesco and certainly beat them on prices.

According to the media, Jack's (named after Tesco's founder, commonly known as Jack Cohen) will concentate on British goods.  Aldi and Lidl are of course German.  A bit like BHS; I hope they don't suffer the same fate.  Hold on to your pension schemes, staff.
