It's that time of year again 2...

...and the baton has been handed to Bonnie Tyler.
Eurovision 2013
Not such a bad song. Bonnie Tyler has a great gravely voice and has belted out some hits like Its a Heartache and Total Eclipse of the Heart.
Never one to give up on Eurovision I will still be watching it in May Crazy

I don't think it's the song or the singer.  It's more to do with the tactical voting from the other countries.  Sad

I'm more interested in seeing how well the Eurovision song written by Tony Iommi (from Black Sabbath !) does.

Sure - but it would be good to have a song we could be proud of rather than another Jemini/Daz Sampson/Andy Abraham/Englebert Humperdinck.
Blue had a good song two years ago but 'blew' their live final performance.
For me the last good song we had was My time sung by Jade Ewen and written by Lloyd-Webber.

The only chance we have of getting anywhere would be if we just selected some random Polish singer that just happens to be working over here.
Otherwise we're going to hear a lot of nul points.

That's a really nice song; I rather like it. I have to say, however, that it sounds very heavily auto-tuned to me, and given some of the more recent performances from the once great Bonnie, I don't hold out much hope for the live performance on the night. I've talked about this kind of thing in another thread; great singers whose voices just sound awful live now because they either haven't looked after them or they've abused drugs/drink (not that I'm saying Bonnie has, I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised).

Yeah, Nice song... you can hear the words, but.....  sorry, Bonnie, much as I loved you, and you gave me Heartache, I`m sorry , but I don`t think you stand a chance.... looking overweight, and past your sell by date, the leather (?) gear doesn`t match up to what you were like in your heyday !. There is no "charisma" or "spark" when you perform this, and I just had to turn it off halfway through. Just a glamorous granny who can sing.

I also felt the song seemed to fizzle out at the end.
I agree about the leather gear.

Now, here is a 50yr old Glamorous Granny, that does have "Charisma" and "passion", and can sing....

She is Puerto Rican, and she commands audiences of over 30,000 in the colliseum in PR.

Personally I don't know why we bother to enter.  We know how we will do before the event.

I don't mind as long as we dump it before we get lumbered with the expense of hosting it again.

^We have expense every year; we are one of the 5 funders. That's why we automatically have a place in the final.
