Is this an Identity Fraud Risk?

Over the last year or so my passport information have been have been photocopied or the details entered in applications/online booking forms as a requirement by government bodies, potential employers and for Advance Passenger Information.  Of all my documents that prove my identity it seem that every Tom, Dick and Harry require a copy. Could this data be used to create forged passports?

There are always people out there who'll try trickery.
I'd have thought that the current passports are more difficult to forge than the old blue ones that I first got in 1956.
