Is laughing while driving an offence?

The reason I ask is because I have just passed a Speed Camera Police van on the A61 southbound heading into Woodseats.
Every Saturday for years that piece of road is a 5-10mph crawl into and through Woodseats most of the daylight hours.
When I saw that van at the side of the road I burst out laughing.
He must have seen me so I just hope he doesn't book me for laughing at him.

Re: Is laughing while driving an offence?

Depends if they consider laughing to be driving with due care and attention i suppose.
I guess you'll find out either way.

They weren't checking cars, they were checking pedestrians as they were travelling faster Wink Grin

Strat,
They wouldn't have been looking for law abiding citizens like you. But some folk do drive without using seat belts, or some use mobile 'phones, especially when the traffic slows.

Re: Is laughing while driving an offence?

There is nothing worse of course in loitering with intent to laugh at a copper.
Perhaps they were just parked outside of the fish and chippery.

Re: Is laughing while driving an offence?

Not knowing the area, I wouldn't have a clue, but is there by any chance a Starbucks nearby?
I think you're safe enough - you could argue that laughing proved you were driving with due care and attention, since normally you'd be moving so slowly, that you'd have to waken up to spot the Speed Camera

Re: Is laughing while driving an offence?

Of course, you could be laughing because you have just smoked the last of the pot you had hidden in the car, and now you  think  they can`t touch you ! !.  Roll eyes Huh Roll eyes

Their sty sorry...station is just a few yards up the road with Greggs and assorted chippies nearby.
We're not civilised Americanized enough for Starbucks round here.
The area where they were parked is predominantly residential.
There is a plumbers merchants across the road. Maybe they popped in for some copper pipe Grin
