Is google now blocking their own browser - chrome?

Hey gang..
I've just had the weirdest experience. While trying to google something, i've opened a new tab in chrome, typed in my search query and got this back:

So.. google and chrome are no longer SSL compatible it seems and as such, chrome can no longer use google.. the very company that released it.
Now if you try to use google with IE6, it won't work because IE6's SSL encryption is only 128bits and can't handle googles enforced SSL. But chrome? - I thought it was meant to be the best thing since sliced bread but now google are blocking their own browser from doing a basic search?
You couldn't make it up.

no problems here.
either a one off error, or the problem is on your system.

I hear that Chrome crashes in certain Windows 10 builds and that Google are aware of the issue.

Interestingly the problem went away a few minutes later.
I'm also on Win7.
