Internet - 40 Years Old

The internet was 40 years old last week.  Are your experiences good or bad?

Re: Internet - 40 Years Old

A good question, with an almost impossible answer I should think. Fact is, without it we wouldn't be holding this debate.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Good point Smiley The internet for me is one of the most positive things for humanity at the moment by encouraging communication with all nationalities where access is available, sharing of knowledge, and keeps me in a job (web design) lol

I'm with you on communication.  I've learned a lot and met many people in cyberspace who have broadened my experiences of life.  Smiley

Didn't the Thames Barrier used to be on that list?
I agree with the above poster re communication except for Facebook, etc. Still can't beat getting out, meeting face to face and enjoying that drink while you do.

Re: Internet - 40 Years Old

I agree with you about facebook and some other social networking sites, I personally prefer forums for communicating online. Also I agree with strat about online shopping (the slimming wallet part), I hate shopping and xmas pressie shopping is usually handled by a half hour visit to play.com lol the only shopping I enjoy is online Smiley

Re: Internet - 40 Years Old

the internet is a wonderful resource.  in the few years i've been using it i have learned so much and re-connected with people i'd lost touch with.  i'd be lost without it.

Re: Internet - 40 Years Old

The internet has made me lazy!
Canary Wharf is only 10 minutes away, I could just go there to do shopping, but instead I just order online.
