Interesting comment in an article in the Times - paywalled

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/bradford-schools-chief-wants-law-to-tackle-racial-segregatio...

Sir Nick told the Today programme on BBC Radio 4: “I think it’s unhealthy in a city like Bradford for two communities to live separate lives, which by and large they do. Really you could say Bradford is almost two communities: the Muslim community and the white community.

and here is a reader's comment

Really you could say Bradford is almost two communities: the Muslim community and the white community.

Unfortunately that could be regarded as a racist statement.

Bradford has a large Indian community (Hindu and Sikh) and that community is fully-integrated. It has a small Chinese community, and that is fully-integrated. There's a substantial Jewish community in nearby Leeds which is also runs into Bradford's borders and Bradford has a small Jewish community that has been present for centuries. There's no Jewish school though and that community is fully-integrated. There's even a small Vietnamese community, though big enough to support the Bradford Vietnamese Community and Support Group, and that is fully-integrated.

So a more accurate statement from Sir Nick Weller would have been;

Really you could say Bradford is almost two communities: the Muslim community, and everyone else.

@Oldjim  yes Bradford is sgregated !  i live there

the Pakistani community does not make any attempt to do so , they want their own area .

Bengali , sikh , polish all make attempts to join in the comunity but Pakistani,s want their own schools , their own shopping centers , and their own rules Sad

And if any one says something they dont like they play the race card

Bradford (and other cities where people ghetto-ise themselves based on race, religion and cultural differences) is a mirror of what Belfast and Derry were when the Troubles kicked off. Two communities that polarised themselves against each other and moved into estates and ghettos of "their own kind". And 48 years later it's still a bitterly divided city. Not long back a cross community housing estate was built and Irish flags were mounted to lamp posts in and around it, clearly marking it as "nationalist only". Only ONE of the "peace walls" has been fully removed... and that was last year. Only got another 100+ walls to go.

Pretty much any village, town, or city in Northern Ireland has "their end" and "our end".

But this raises the question of why ?

Is it that certain religions are more tolerant of their members mixing with other groups of people along with such religions adapting to the laws of the country they are in rather than trying to change the laws of that country to fit their religion.?
