If you're prowling around outside tonight....

...  and there is a full moon visible, you should be able to see a "grazing" lunar eclipse. Between about 10.30pm and 3am. I think I'll stay tucked up in bed in this weather though!

@nozzer  I assume it's the same as this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grazing_lunar_occultation  I must say I'd never heard of this phenomenon although it must happen relatively frequently. It looks like it'll be cloudy here so I shall have to wait for next time.

@Jonpe

Technically it's a penumbral eclipse...  the moon is going into the fuzzy shadow either side of the main umbral shadow, so it won't go dark in a crescent, it'll just look a bit strange. Or so I'm told!

Sky clear as a bell here in west Wales and that moon amazingly bright.

Will we see it if we live in a cul-de-sac? Huh

Did anyone manage to stay up long enough to see it?

Ah it's very pretty, looks like a blood moon. Are those flying things birds or bats? I'm guessing bats unless they're birds with night vision specs.

@nozzer

That's unfair, tempting the rest of us to get up at that time and staying in bed yourself.

Thanks for the photo, I didn't get up either.
