I thought this was funny anyway

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7873624.stm
Clarkson apologises for calling Brown a "one eyed Scottish idiot".
In one phrase he upset the Scots, the RNIB and Gordon Banks (MP)

Sack Clarkson, big mouthed ignorant get
Edit: Removed comment mistakenly asking Jim to reconsider his post.
My apologies for messing the thread up

Not sure what the problem was but I have taken out my comment - and now I can't remember what it was (old age has crept in)

Re: I thought this was funny anyway

Just another TV presenter who is too big for his boots, overpaid and far to high an opinion of himself.
Oh and Gordon Banks is my MP !( he is a Scot too !! )  - and quite a good constituency MP at that IMHO.

Re: I thought this was funny anyway

Sorry Jim. It was a reference to Gordon Banks [MP] with some aspersion cast as to his effectiveness in life

Re: I thought this was funny anyway

Gordon Banks takes offence at everything non-scottish.
I suspect Jezza's intent was more directed against our illustrious leader than against optically-challenged individuals or scots. But why let that get in the way of a good rant by a politician looking for face time in the media.  Roll eyes

Re: I thought this was funny anyway

The remark he made when testing the truck about murdering prostitutes was awful, if it was up to me he would have gone for that

The Daily Mail readership take similar views... though they have to be told what to think and how outraged they need to be.

Re: I thought this was funny anyway

And Carol Thatcher's golliwog comment which was made in private got her thrown off a TV show.

I wouldn't know I don't read that paper so they don't tell me what to think  and therefore make my own mind up

I remember golliwogs on the marmalade jars. I used to collect them and send off for the golliwog enamel badges.
Different world.

The last time I looked at that rag - it was in all Little Chef cafes, and as it was the only paper - I forced myself to look at it. On nearly every occasion - I just cringed at how truly awful a paper it was.
And whenever we get one of their journalists on BBC's Question Time, they are truly awful too...............
And aren't they one of the BBC's biggest critics. ( OK sometimes warranted - like the issue with Thatchers comment in a private room. )

Both as bad as each other, and for different reasons, the Sun, Mirror etc.

Re: I thought this was funny anyway

i like jeremy clarkson.  he's one of the few people left who don't give a stuff for political correctitude.  not only that, he's funny as hell.
