I thought my max/min thermometer had broken

Went out to the greenhouse (no heating on at the moment as the forecast was for a minimum temperature of 1 deg C) but my peppers looked a bit sad.
Checked the max/min thermometer and it showed minus 3 deg C
Then I saw this which is just down the road (well 6 miles approx)

WINTER arrived with a vengeance this morning as Bournemouth became the coldest place in the UK.
The mercury at the Met Office station at Hurn fell to around –4.9 deg C overnight with clear skies and conditions aiding the drop in temperature.
