I'm Spartacus.

Anybody else losing track of who should be getting the Covid vaccine first.

With rumbles from Unison this morning on behalf of cleaning staff, the Daily Mail telling us it should be the seriously obese and now a report from the BBC that 'elite athletes' should receive it before others, it's all staring to feel a bit like I'm Spartacus.

I'm fine with the elderly vs the essential worker debate as far as it goes, but those with the voice seems to be getting the choice.

Me?

Well at a nudge under 75 I'm more than happy to wait my turn... as long as I don't have to wait too far behind these newly emerging 'essential need' queue jumpers.

Re: I'm Spartacus.

My daughter is a nurse and has been diverted from the skilled job she is specifically trained in to flog herself to exhaustion in a hospital now only dealing with COVID-19 whilst the waiting list for those requiring specialised treatment grows. To me it is a no brainer.
First priority should be those who are most likely to need hospital treatment.

Give priority to super fit younger persons whose ‘occupation’ is to run around in circles/kick a ball around a field for an hour and half on a Saturday? What planet are these people from?

@HelloDuck

Absolutely.

Two of my daughters teach but they have no idea as yet when the might get their jab. Son in law is in the police force but I have no idea either if he's had one, or my other daughters police sergeant partner.

All very 'tick box' confusing.

Fingers crossed for all of them.

Re: I'm Spartacus.

It's all very confusing Stanley Johnson has had both of his wonder why as the jabs should be 11-12 weeks apart ?

Re: I'm Spartacus.

As of today (according the Mail at least) the guy has not yet had his second jab and presumably, he got his first one because of his age.

Curious... or maybe not.

Re: I'm Spartacus.

It seems that Stanley Johnson was in the first wave to receive the jab hence only a 3 week wait.

@HelloDuck

I did check but was looking at the top line of the link rather than the article itself.

Now sat on @shutter 's naughty step until tea time. 😊

Sit on a cushion if it's cold we don't want you getting piles at your age

Re: I'm Spartacus.

As I previously posted I was due a follow up op in a London hospital on the 12th. It was cancelled in the "last minute" as expected as they were getting pretty busy there. Frankly I was relieved.

They said expect a call in a month. At a guess I think they expect all their staff, us oldies, and upcoming inpatients, will have had their first jab by then.

Unless premier league footballers and formula one drivers get priority.

Re: I'm Spartacus.

Even going by the list I'm assuming when you actually get the jab could vary considerably area by area. I mean an area with a much older population could still be struggling to finish jabbing over 65's while an area with a general younger population might already be be started in mopping up the rest.

Then there are those areas affected by the fake news that the vaccine contains pork and other animal products which could again slow things down.

The different groups making the news are most likely those not used to queuing and waiting like the rest of us.
