I'm Dreaming

of a White Christmas.....

We've already had White stuff here in Derbyshire, but it's only been Frost so far.

Scotland on the other hand, has already had lots of Snow.

New tyres on the Jeep, looking forwards to trying them out, and the Quadra Drive 4WD lo setting, locking all four wheels together, for Snow, Mud, Grass etc slippery conditions.

But not for general road use.

Re: I'm Dreaming

I love to pass Jeeps on the motorways knowing I'm getting 57 mpg at 70 mph.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Fuel costs are not an issue with myself.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee in question is a Limited Edition, top of range, high output V8 4.7l

0-60 is just over 5 seconds, but then the mpg does deteriorate rapidly....

You won't be passing my Jeep !

Especially when the roads are wet...

Re: I'm Dreaming

Is that one of them Heeps that wants to kill the driver in an emergency swerve?

Re: I'm Dreaming

@Anonymous to be honest I wouldn't even try to pass you not after watching @twocvbloke's video. That's really scary.

Re: I'm Dreaming

I performed similar manoeuvres on a SUV driver training course several years ago.

Scary, but well worth the experience.

And is the main reason I don't accelerate or drive too fast around corners, when driving the Jeep GC.

I will only accelerate having left a roundabout and on a straight road after.

Or on a straight road with a clear sight of adjoining side roads.

You just have to be intelligent how you drive a vehicle with a high centre of gravity.

The video showed how well the Jeep GC coped with the violent manoeuvres, should you ever need to.

I've only ever had to take evasive action like this once, the training stood me in good stead.

It's all down to the capabilities of the driver, both in avoiding such an event, and coping with it if needs be.

How well it coped! I actually think you're being serious here, or were you watching another video?

If the Moose or the action of avoiding it didn't kill you the blown tyre might at dual carriageway / motorway speeds.

Re: I'm Dreaming

Please don't think I'm being awkward @Anonymous, but first two videos are all very well but are obviously filmed off road by people who evidently don't have a clue how to drive in the conditions shown, it appears to be a typical American mentality using brute force to overcome their opponent, in this case the snow!

I drive a Range Rover and there is nothing in these videos that my car and many other 4X4 can't do but if you drive with the attitude that was shown in some of these videos on the main road you have a good chance of putting yourself or others in Hospital and your car in the repair shop.

Very wet day today, extreme downpours nearly all day.

Used both the Jazz & Jeep, the Jazz with it's nearly new tyres, Traction Control kicked in a few times, especially power setting off from rest at traffic lights, whereas the Jeep GC just got on with it, no slippage at all.

Bring on the Snow.......

Re: I'm Dreaming

In all fairness it's not a manoeuvre you would usually do in a tall sided vehicle like that. Yes I get it's suppose to be an emergency turn but if you drove that fast in say the New Forest back roads, with horses and deer around, you would be dangerously stupid and soon wreck your car.

I'm wondering what his next road test fail will be. Perhaps a Lamborghini going fast across a deeply rutted mud track.Smiley

It did remind me though of a mate with an old Land Rover who went too fast around a roundabout. He managed to peel a front tyre almost completely off the rim.
