Re: I Owe, I Owe, it's off to Work I Go.....

A bit misleading
Using those guidelines I owe my energy supplier money - why is that
I pay a fixed amount each month by direct debit and it balances out with lower usage in the summer.
Note mine runs from November I believe

I think when one pays by regular DD a lot depends on when ones account year starts.
Ours runs from April to March and we are always in credit.

My monthly payments of £131 were, last month reduced to £10 as I had accrued over £1000 in credit.
I owe them nothing....on the contrary.....

That's a frightening amount per month, Strat  Cry
We were £90 in credit at end March - end of account year.
DD left at £72 per month ( gas and electric)
3 bed semi and thermostat set at 22

I'm currently just over £70 in credit with electric and £12 credit with gas.
DD has just been paid and new readings due in a few days. BGas keeps wanting  to reduce may payments but I don't want to so that there's always a little spare building up for for cold/long winters.

Npower set that figure based on 2012/2013 winter which was particularly cold.
Plus I have done some re jigging to cut down my electric and gas usage and it's working.
Just had a look and my energy usage this year is 17% down on last year to date.

Re: I Owe, I Owe, it's off to Work I Go.....

well I replaced some appliances in the last 12 months, a new freezer (A+++ rated to replace the 15 year old c rated one) a new washer, (replaced a 5 year old a+ rated with a new A++ rated one) and despite being on a fixed rate tariff I'm still paying more per month than I was 12 months ago ....whats odd though is they calculate the usage on a two tier price based on usage, the more you use the less you pay for the bulk of it ......

I was just sitting here thinking of a free energy saving measure I could make.
Install Linux on my main PC as with Windows installed I currently leave it on most of the day as it takes so long to start up when I need it.

Re: I Owe, I Owe, it's off to Work I Go.....

you could just install windows on an ssd ..... mine takes about 20 seconds from cold start to show the login screen and then another few seconds to be useable although if I switched off the login prompt it would be useable on desktop in abut the same time frame Smiley
then again I also have a memory stick that's sole purpose is for faster boot time, that said its running a 1000w psu and an r9 270x gfx card so its a massive power hog irrespective of boot time  Cheesy
