Hurricane Helene

Now it's our turn ?

Hurricane Helene which is swirling off the US coast behind 'monster' Florence could be on collision course for Britain, forecasters fear

Emma Smith,  Met Office meteorologist, also spoke of how Hurricane Helene could impact on Britain.

'There is a chance Helene will be caught up in the jet stream and that would bring some wet and windy weather to the UK after the weekend.'

Any impact on Britain will pale in comparison to the ferocious weather due to hit the Carolina coast later this week.

Re: Hurricane Helene

Not quite Florence nor Mangkhut proportions, but it is chucking it down here in Derbyshire.

Warmer weather predicted for Monday/Tuesday due to Helene.

Re: Hurricane Helene

I'm noting the early effects of Helene, clocking gusts of 17mph.

Everything that can be is nailed down.

Strong winds predicted for Tuesday morning and it's blue bin day Roll_eyes

Re: Hurricane Helene

As was anticipated, I and a couple of neighbours spent a happy 1/2 hr collecting an assortment of bottles and cans off the road and placing them in the nearest blue bins.

We had to put the bins out even though the high winds were forecast and we knew what the outcome would be.

I and my neighbour placed our bins and blue boxes carefully, taking the wind direction into consideration and they were still in place unlike others.

Because we were outside when the bin lorry arrived we received special treatment, they put the bins back where they found them.

I don't know @nozzer. Daughter keeps telling me to slow down. She's worried I'll burn myself out.
