How to annoy a telemarketer

A pretty funny video here you have to watch it to the end to ask the final question the telemarketer asks before hanging up Cheesy

Re: How to annoy a telemarketer

Of course you have to be careful saying the word 'yes' on a telemarketing call as I found out.

Yes  Roll eyes OK tell us what you did, but you are right.
If I'd done that I'd be with stalk stalk now on an 18 month contract.

Re: How to annoy a telemarketer

Answering the phone with "Sahara Desert Rowing Club" usually throws the caller off guard for a moment or two. However, most of our nuisance calls come from machines rather than people, so I let our 'machine' deal with them. Haven't had the nerve to programme the above greeting into the answering machine yet though!

Yes  Roll eyes OK tell us what you did

We had our gas from British Gas and received a call from nPower.
After a lengthy call I was asked if I would change supplier to which I answered NO!
Finally she asked if she could send me some literature to read and to get rid of her I said 'yes'.
A couple of days later I received a letter from nPower thanking me for changing my gas supplier to them.
A letter from British Gas followed expressing regret at losing me as a customer.
As it turned out there was a small saving made on my gas bill so I didn't bother to switch back.

Grin Grin That reminds me, a number of years back a group of us used to answer our phones with the words "Train Enquires"  Wink

Re: How to annoy a telemarketer

Tell them it's an emergency line with a number only known to a few individuals for a security company and it's essential they give you full details of how they got the number, whatever they say insist they delete the number and inform them under the data protection act the conversation has been recorded and logged and will be used in evidence if further calls are received.
Then hang up !

This one is an old classic, but worth listening to it though.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.
