Re: Hot Bins...

Pretty much the same as my VW then, and probably many other modern'ish cars.  (even the old 1999 Golf sitting outside that I've still got to dispose of does that with the windows, I can't remember if the sunroof opens though).

Remote one button press global opens all windows & sunroof on car.

Similar to close all later.

I found this feature very useful in the ridiculously hot weather recently, not so much to remotely fully open all windows & sunroof, but to partially open said items from inside the house, just enough for ventilation, staying inside cool house.

And when drizzle occurs, to close said items remotely.

And of course, at end of day.

Re: Hot Bins...

Fair enough, I need to put my bins out tonight.

You have the fun and games, of the three recycling bins, and looking up the council website to check which of the actual bin they want to collect. The main one, or the graden waste one. My council charge you for that. Anyone with any logic should know your council tax should pay for that. Meanwhile they just put Marshalls humps into the ground and spend £15 million trying to "improve" my local area. That just means digging the road up, replacing it with bricks instead or tarmac. 🙄 The line painters must have taken some long lunches with that road (there are no markings)..

Sorry will try to shut up, now it's 2am. Better retire for the night. 😀

@gleneagles

Just one of those nights where you can't sleep. Up again already. What with the heat and all that.

Got a few bits and pieces to do today (nothing major - I wish) and hopefully I will be tired tonight.

Oh Well. 😐

So yours don't close automatically when rain is detected?

You were done!

Re: Hot Bins...

TBH I've never waited that long, at the first sign of drizzle or dark Skies, I close everything.

However, my auto wipers and lights work well, so perhaps both/either will trigger closure !

Re: Hot Bins...

I doubt that @Lægen as the ignition would need to be on, if not the engine running otherwise your lights and wipers would go on and off when the car is parked and standing idle.

Re: Hot Bins...

Auto closing windows when rain is detected by the rain sensor (which is also used to activate wipers and lights) is available on some VAG group (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat) cars.  If not included as an option at time of purchase it can be activated later using VCDS or OBDeleven.

Re: Hot Bins...

My current car is quite advanced.

It has a dedicated place under the front bumper to store the cranking handle making it easily available in case of a stall.

Previously it had to be stored in the boot.

Re: Hot Bins...

@Strat

I bet it has a proper size spare wheel as well, possibly even a foot pump.

Something unknown in most cars these days.

Re: Hot Bins...

I have a "proper spare wheel"  in the boot,.... AND a 12v tyre blower upper... called a compressor.

Its also got a spare gallon of diesel... and a decent tow rope... Plus... a set of Heavy Duty jump leads...  AND  an emergency windscreen ! !  ( proper accessory job still in the box) .  Not that I have ever used any of it... except to change the diesel once a month, or so !... Cheesy

And if I did need any assistance.. it only costs me £ 27 a year... and that includes being brought back home from anywhere in the U.K. should they not be able to get the car going again...
