Holidays

Ok, it's the holiday thread; where are you going?  Where have you been?  Any recommendations?  Any stories?
I'm currently working on the pages for my website that cover the two excellent holidays we had in the North York Moors last year and the year before.  Beautiful scenery, lovely cottages, good food from the expensive but on a par with anything available from the very best London can offer through the best (probably) fish and chips in the world to classic pub grub, lots of interesting things to do and lots of helpful locals to point out where stuff is happening, and it was quiet.  Lovely place to visit.

Re: Holidays

Where abouts in North Yorkshire did you go?
Reason I ask is cause Ive just made a slideshow for some friends
who used to live there....    a little village called Giggleswick.
Thought you might happen to know it.
Ive never been to the North Yorkshire Moors but indeed I have heard
its very pretty, and certainly looked that way from the photos I saw.

I'm with you there.  The West Coast of Florida is a most beautiful place where I've just been for 5 weeks and will be returning again in September.
One thing I must agree with the OP about, however, is that Yorkshire fish and chips can't be beaten especially if they have scraps on them Smiley

A village called Commondale, Fowl Green Farm has converted outbuildings that are wheelchair accessible, just right for us.

There's a simple array of photos at http://www.riverdale.org.uk/Holidays/NYM2009/nym09.html, clicking on the Riverdale header gets you back to the menus, I love mystery meat navigation.

Ahh...holidays. That's where one spends a few days away from home or work...hmm
I must give it a try one of these days.

Re: Holidays

Just don't forget your passport and visa when passing through the People's Republic of South Yorkshire.  Wink Actually, I believe it has improved greatly since the 70s and 80s, rather like the changes in Russia since the decline of the Soviet union (please don't take the analogy too seriously).

Adiewood,
Ah, but have you forgotten that it was a certain comedian
from Yorkshire who once warned us about that?
If you`re not in the older age group tha`ll not remember (lol)
