Holiday booked

Well not really a holiday, and we booked our flight at the start of the year when it was much cheaper, but back to France soon to catch up with friends and family for a few days and dreading that it will all go pear shaped with flights cancelled, wrong paperwork, luggage overweight or containing the wrong items and finally, the car hire not being ready.

What could possibly go wrong?

Still, look on the bright side, we'll not be stuck behind miles of motor homes and caravans heading down to the west country!

Re: Holiday booked

Very nice.  We had a week in Boscastle in summer.  We're off for a long weekend in the Brecon Beacons in a few weeks time, and then another long weekend in Padstow in November.

Re: Holiday booked

There is certainly something to be said for not going overseas these days. At least a 'holiday at home' saves on having to worry about what could go wrong and is it just me, or are there more motor-homes on the roads these days and less caravans.

Re: Holiday booked

I don't have time for holidays as I'm too busy taxiing relatives to or from the airport and house sitting while they are away on theirs.

Oh the joys of being a Grandad.

Re: Holiday booked

We have two dogs, so it just makes sense to stay in the country, especially since one of them is rather elderly.

At some point, we'll take the younger one across the channel, but not yet.

@RobPN

Probably one of the few people that can afford to live there - not short of million pound houses that's for sure.

@Minivanman

Well if things do go wrong it won't be a mammoth typing feat to change the thread title - to "Holiday borked"  Wink

But let's not look on the dark side, I hope it all goes well.

The last time I was there I went on the Puffin Island boat. As we started to go around the island the captain announced "of course at this time of year there are no Puffins".

And with the boat going up and down,seemed a massive swell around the island, it was hell to hang onto your beer. There was a nice Sunfish though. Laying on its side sun bathing as they do waving a fin at us.

Re: Holiday booked

Many years ago I used to travel abroad on business quite extensively. At this time, if asked I was proud to say that I was British. Thanks to the antics of the idiots that inhabit parliament and call themself politicians, today I would be embarrassed.

I know two families who have stopped going to Mediterranean resorts because of the weather - too hot!
