Looks like the government will be having a vote on the decision to have a third runway at Heathrow.
Quite understandable that those whose homes are affected either by demolition or noise and pollution issues are against the idea but the topic has been under discussion for years with all the alternative sites being considered and rejected for one reason or another.
Clearly we need an additional runway to cope with the increasing volume of passengers and goods using airports so has the government any choice but to put there proposal to a vote, should the vote be lost what less costly alternatives are there that also have the necessary transport links ?

Parliament has passed the bill approving a new runway at Heathrow.
This will be just the first of many hurdles to be jumped before any work actually commences.

Pollution, what pollution.
That's what London's new ulez car charges are all about. Reduce car numbers, reduce pollution.
Make room for all the extra aircraft pollution to come.
Never mind we will soon have electric planes.

You obviously haven't read the reports or listened to the debates. Pollution was fully discussed and is forecast to reduce as the new runway is commissioned.

Suggesting?
What would make any difference to the outcome?
Have you a suggestion that would?

Pollution levels for the new runway at Heathrow form part of the contract which the developers will have to abide by.

Ah well, after a No Deal Brexit there'll be fewer planes using Heathrow. Less demand for an additional runway.
