Heat Homes to 18° is that all!

I’ve just read an article on the BBC site that says you should heat your home to at least 18°. I don’t know about you but for me that’s way too cold. At present I have mine set at 24° and it’s just right.

18C during day and 16C between 2200 and 0600 in the winter.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

I've kept the 'stat at 17 Celsius day & night, works nicely, keeps gas use down to about £1 a day according to the shartmeter usage stats...

Mine comes on in the morning for a few hours and in the evening about 17-19 depending on how we feel.

I'm surprised to see such low readings, to me anything under 21° is too cold. Mind you it explains the £100+PM I spend on LPG!

Snap !

ours is set to 24 as well, bit warm for me to be honest, 22 is about right for me but swmbo feels the cold more than me.

One of the problems with thermostats is whatever you set it on it seems to vary by one degree either way of the set temperature we have has several thermostats over the years and they have all been the same.

Current thermostat is a nest, installed a month ago with a new boiler, hope it lasts as long as the previous one (17 years) but without all the problems that one had

Personally, if it's over 20 degrees I start sweating like a hooker in church, which ultimately makes me feel colder, so for me, being colder ironically keeps me warmer... Smiley

Ours is set at 16.5°. I find overly hot houses unbearable, and anything over 20° is just extreme

I guess the amount of heat you need increases with age for most people, not uncommon to see younger people out and about in this weather without a coat, scarf or gloves.

We use 18 in the day, if we still feel cold then its time for a fleece. Too high and the planet suffers from too much energy usage.

In the car we never get it right. I like it at 24, she likes it at 19. I don't wear a coat, she wears the thickest she can find.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Another one set at 24 here. Again a bit too warm for me, but wife complains if it drops to 23.999. She will be wearing a ridiculously thick woolly jumper while I am in a short sleeve polo. Main thermostat is in the lounge though, so at least the rest of the house is a few degrees cooler.

I don't have central heating so I only heat one room. Around 22° works for me.

My bathroom and bedroom sometimes have ice on the windows in the morning. On the inside. So I would be happy if it was 18° there.

I have mine set at 22, but it's more for wifey than for me.

A float tip is pleasing in its appearance and even more pleasing in its disappearance.
