Looks more like someone using 'health and safety' as an excuse more than an actual issue. Most of these stories are either blown out of proportion or are at worse simply made up by journalists with an agenda.

That new statue mock up is awful. Looks like someone was either having a laugh or misunderstood.
At least they left out the red hat and the mushroom to sit on, so far.

Has anyone actually been seen swinging off the arms of the original? If not.... then the council have opened up the prospect of causing the "health and safety" issue, by mentioning their reason for re-designing it...  in other words..... they have given the people a reason to try to do it... Doh !  Embarrassed

Why not just put up a sign telling people that they swing on the arms at their own risk? Cheesy

Health and Safety issue as "Evidenced" by what?  I wonder if the officials have any real evidence of risk, or are they just guilty of wasting public money.  There should be a change in the law governing public officials so that when rules on "Health and Safety" that issue must be signed off in person by the official and their evidence must be documented.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.
