So, the main advantage of being able to see through the screen is HuhHuh
so you don`t knock your coffee over when you are feeling for it behind the screen?  Cheesy

In a few short years it's going to be so common you won't even think about it.

I was at a show/conference type things a few weeks back, the company behind this video gave a talk, this is the kind of thing those transparent displays could enable. http://www.youtube.com/user/TATMobileUI?blend=1&ob=5#p/u/3/g7_mOdi3O5E

Re: Has anybody seen this...

Not so sure i like the idea much myself tbh. Sure, it will have advantages but it will also have disavantages too. Surely if you can see through it then so can other people who are in front of it and they'll be able to see what you're doing on your own computer.
Could certainly do with a HUD on the car though!

Can see call centres and schools using them, no way to hide if your looking at something you shouldn't.

The back fo the screen comprises of a plastic sheet covering the back of the screen. Behind this sheet you could have a single HUGE pixel that covers the back of the main display. This single huge pixel can either be on or off. When off it is completely opque, when on it is completely transparent.
This technology is used everywhere. Flick a switch to close the blinds instantly.

Re: Has anybody seen this...

Certainly a good idea when you put it like that. Also if you could reverse the screen you you could show someone behind it what you want them to see i suppose.
Hmm.. now i'm starting to like the idea!
