Moneysupermarket said it would "preserve the editorial independence" of MoneySavingExpert, "free of commercial considerations".

It remains to be seen.

Re: Has Lewis sold out?

its all about the money the more he has, he just made money off giving people advice on on to save it and is now stinking rich.  Question is wouldn't you?  if you say no don't lie to your self.

Re: Has Lewis sold out?

He was already made money off giving people advice, there were other things that could have been done with the website - charitable trust perhaps?

He also earned from offering advice on TV, radio and in the press. I guess this will continue. Undecided

Re: Has Lewis sold out?

If its going to remain independant then why on earth do they want it / why buy it?
Nope, he's sold his visitors down the river imo. Still, at least in these hard times, someone is getting rich for others misery  Crazy

I suspect the misery of the people that go for help and advice, who are deep in the mire of over borrowing..

In artmos dellusional world, everyone has a wonderful happy life because they are all miraculously rich, lucky and never have the daily grind of struggling to make ends meet. I'm surprised you dare try to inform him that there is another way of living  Wink

Re: Has Lewis sold out?

Is interesting concept where business is built up around contributors and gains increasing value as a consequence. A social network with more contributors might even have greater value  Cheesy
Anyway, he has done well, and if wants to sell his business good luck to him. Not sure why it is so valuable to MoneySupermarket though. But then FriendsReunited was to ITV, for a short time.

Re: Has Lewis sold out?

@Sprite - you have to remember that a great many of the forum members are that bit older and have been there, done it and got the tee shirt.
Personally I don't bother reading Martin Lewis's newsletters as most of the advice is pure common sense.
