Have been eagerly awaiting this film since November 2008 when it should have been released. Hope that it will be good but unfortunately they will have to miss out a lot as per usual. Will be heading off to the pictures early doors!

Re: Harry Potter - Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I found the books to be poorly written at best, cribbing story-lines from here there and everywhere.
For a children's series the Chronicles Of Narnia are far better.
Give me Gandalf and Rincewind any day of the week.

Granted Nania is better - and as one would expect coming from an Oxford academic  CS Lewis.
and Lord of the Rings was written by fellow Oxford academic and Professor of English Literature.
I've heard it said that many many children have learnt to read novels through Harry Potter and have then gone on to Nadia etc etc.

Re: Harry Potter - Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

It is a good point, if the HP books have got people to start reading, that must be a good thing for society in general.
A Thai friend of mine said they are getting this film in 3D ... are we getting that in the UK, they could be wrong.
I will be going to see it the week after it opens to avoid the queues.

I suspect I'll be going to see it, since I've seen the rest of them... but I suspect they'll have cut lots of it etc from the book.

Re: Harry Potter - Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Well as always - past films haven't included all the books - according to young readers I've spoken too.
But haven't they split the last book into 2 films - as the book was longer than earlier ones.
They are still filming aren't they.

and on a similar theme aren't they now filming the Hobbit - the book before Lord of the Rings ?Huh

Yep Guillermo del Toro is doing the Hobbit - though it's not started filming and due to be out late 2011 I believe.
