"Wish I could invite you all around for a drink..... "
Same here, but as I only have much cherished single malt in the house it ain't going to happen! 😉
Oh yes, on the news earlier about how we will now have to join a different queue at the airport when flying to Europe and how "terrible and inconvenient" that's going to be. Well if it's better than the nightmare one I was in last year as a 'member of the EU'....

Happy new year as a hope, and happy new year having made it to another one.

It's 21:30 so in an hour and a half we say goodbye to the EU and an hour after that goodbye to 2020.
I've just checked my EHIC and it expired in July. It isn't like me to forget such things, and I understand that if I'd renewed it this year, I could have used my new one till it expired. So now I have to register on the new site and get a GHIC, and no-one seems to be sure what that will entitle me to.
Happy New Year to everyone using this forum.

You are right about the current health insurance card and about it's replacement - which nobody seems to know about!
From what I can gather (and I check these things because of family in France) is that the EU is saying that “If the need arises, you will still receive the treatment necessary to enable you to continue your holiday without having to return home for treatment.”
Personally and even though my insurance card has yet to expire I'd not be going anywhere or take anybody's word for it that treatment would be provided. If I was younger and much fitter then perhaps I'd take the chance, but at my age? Err, I don't think so.
I have no plans to travel very far next year least of all overseas and if I did travel overseas I would take out some form of private health insurance in the absence of any new card. I'd not hold my breath either that the EU alongside the UK will get it sorted out anytime soon either... but you never know.

I was going to create a thread on here about this, but I've been beaten already now 😛
Happy new year to everyone, so to all customers and staff too.
Mine was a bit boring, as Freddie Mercury once said "Living On My Own" and all that.
Spoke to a friend, we texted and joked what businesses are going to do well and which aren't. People are already moaning that a local firework shop was busy. Of course it would be.
Whilst I can understand it is naughty, "That's just the way it is", "Some things will never change". As the song once said.
