Ditto shutter, and also to all those one-upmanship people picking up their new cars today, or don't they do that any more?
Here's to another 365 days, and 71 times around the sun

New vehicle year IDs change 1st March and 1st September. It looks like you would have to go back to 1967 for the year ID to change in January.

All the best to everyone for the new year.
I guess it's going to be an interesting one no doubt about that.

Ah right, although I know of a couple of people picking up their new cars today - so I must be missing something.

Never understood why people have to have the latest model of something.
My policy is to let others try it out first and identify the problems which the manufacturers have fail to spot in the rush to get the product out.
Once the next model comes out the older model is usually a lot cheaper anyway.
A number of people buying the latest stuff may not have a good start to the new year, even I am breaking my own rule by buying a new kettle.

Well it's amazing how much has changed @gleneagles that's for sure, but I wonder and worry about what the future holds.
2016 has seen television enter the era of unlimited streaming (which is why we get moans about slow internet speeds of course) and forecasts that say by the 2020s two thirds of existing jobs will be automated. Politics has turned on it's head which is really worrying as we slip to the Right, cars are becoming the elephant in the room with folks asking "do we really need one" now we have online shopping..... and how many more baby boomers are we going to lose in 2017.
Interesting indeed, as going downhill becomes an uphill struggle.

@journeys I read somewhere that it's also a tradition in Norway, and, judging by the comments to the video, also in at least one German-speaking country
@gleneagles My policy is also to let others try it out first, like Windows10 and most updates.
