Ham Sandwich

Something has been bothering me.... !.. We buy pre-packed ham, from the supermarket, to make up sarnies for lunch... I like to have some English Mustard on mine... not a lot... just a thin smear in odd places....  My tastebuds must be dis-functioning.... because I can`t distinguish between the ham with... and the ham without ( mustard)... or am I expecting too much.... or does the ham taste better with the mustard... or am I tasting the mustard, and thinking it`s the ham...

Re: Ham Sandwich

I never buy pre-packed ham. It has so much water in it. Try buying the ham that is cut for you by the slice. Much Better Smiley

Sounds more like you are just hamming it up.

Re: Ham Sandwich

My missus saw on TV how ham is processed during manufacture when water is added to "enhance the flavor". She's refused to eat it since. Personally I go for ham off the bone with Coleman's mustard made from the powder and given 10 minutes to rest.
Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: Ham Sandwich

I, too, prefer ham off the bone..... however... this is not about the type of ham... it is about the taste buds being confused.....by the addition,... or not... of the mustard...( or any other "dressing" )...

Re: Ham Sandwich

Mustard will always improve the taste of cheap ham, and boot the good stuff.
I love a smear of Dijon on my ham, or some Horseradish on my beef. (I remember buying some of the HOT stuff once and SHMBO made my sandwiches with it, was like a blast of Wasabi!)

@shutter,
Yes it says Ham on the label but can you believe what it says on labels these days. ?
Like AA's wife I have seen several articles and program's on tv and since then have never touched the stuff.

Funnily enough, the "wasabi" paste we westerners get is actually just horseradish and green dye, the real thing is too expensive to be sold to just anyone apparently... Grin

Is the Guardian a banned publication in the USA, because of Edward Snowden?
