Grotty Snotty

When you have a runny nose, from a bad cold for example, which is your preferred paper tissue ?

We use Tesco Extra Large Balm+, which are supposed to be gentle on your nose & upper lip, backed up with some frequent applications of Baby lotion.

Though tbh I do prefer a plain white cotton hanky, batch washed at 90ºC with softener 10 or so at a time.

They take 3 hours to wash, but only a few minutes to dry.

We have an ample supply of those, after a heavy cold last year.

I can remember many years ago, my Gran used to boil wash used hankies in a large pan, filled the kitchen with steam.

Can be found on a roll which is fixed to the wall next to the toilet...

Re: Grotty Snotty

I just used Paloma snotrags bought from poundland when I had a cold a few weeks back, can't use anything infused with oils due to skin issues, so basic bogie catchers for me... Smiley

And when your sleeves are full?

But should we be blowing our nose anyway? It seems, if so, then a gentle blow is bestTongue

Edit: I don't like using a handkerchief. Putting a snotty rag back in my pocket is not idealHuh

Also, why do some people examine what they have blown out before putting it awayShocked

I still do - or at least my better half does

Then again I limit it to about half a dozen (I don't have that many) so not a lot of steam

Re: Grotty Snotty

As my really bad Cold reaches its natural conclusion, and the runny nose now has progressed to coughing up catarrh which resembles clumps of thixotropic paint, it's not something you want on your sleeve.

The only place for it, is into a paper hanky tissue, then disposed of down the toilet pan.

Followed by thorough cleaning of hands, and washing of face !!!!!

As there is still time to amend my Tesco Home Delivery, I've just added some more boxes of tissues, and catarrh pastilles.... I've only got two boxes left ... they have a long shelf life.

Wasn't she a punk star back in the 70s?

I use Sainsbury's 3-ply tissues for general use, and Kleenex Balsam for heavy colds in order to avoid scabby nostrils.  Both can be obtained in double packs which works out cheaper.
