Grateful thanks to Wiltshire Air Ambulance

http://www.wiltshireairambulance.co.uk/
I was out walking yesterday with the Ramblers in some woods above Salisbury when I tripped over a tree root and slammed into a tree - end result I was lying on the floor with a dislocated shoulder.
The paramedics were called out as I couldn't move. They arrived and dosed me with morphine which didn't do much good and there was no way I could walk down the steep hill through the woods to the road.
They called the Air Ambulance and it landed in the adjacent field and took me to Odstock Hospital where I was eventually sedated and the joint put back. - it is amazing how difficult it is to type with only one hand

Re: Grateful thanks to Wiltshire Air Ambulance

Thankfully you're alright Jim, and that a dislocated shoulder is all that happened -- could have been much worse.
I personally think the air ambulance services do a fantastic job, and its always amazed me they never really get any funding for the work they do, and have to raise money themselves.
On a side note: i am relatively pleased that you look similar to your avatar (only with shorter hair Wink )

Think you get prize for most exciting day  Cool
Can never understand why air ambulances rely on charity support - should be properly funded.
Wish you better  Smiley

Re: Grateful thanks to Wiltshire Air Ambulance

Indeed, best wishes Jim. Any dislocation is painful. the shoulder particularly so.
Support your local Air Ambulance....(as well as the RNLI of course) you never know when you may need them...ask Jim, who was just out for a "stroll"
This came up in an earlier recent thread but, RNLI and Air Ambulance prefer to remain charity financed without government interference, which is what would almost certainly happen with "official" funding.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: Grateful thanks to Wiltshire Air Ambulance

Glad you're on the mend and thank god they were around to help you out otherwise you could of been in some trouble there.
@nadger it's a good job they're not government funded otherwise they'd be victim of budget cuts along with our other services. It's these charity rescue services that are actually surviving pretty well through these times thanks to their non reliance on the government.
While I know they have to struggle for their own cash it's times like this I'm glad they're not funded by No 10.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!
