Grammar Vigilante

I like this story about the Grammar Vigilante of Bristol.

I invited him to patrol this forum but he declined, saying it was far too big a task for one person.

Lets see how hes accepted by Bristols sign writers.

Oh, come on now. I'm sure even you realise that last line should have been:

Lets see how hes accepted by Bristols sign writer's.

Re: Grammar Vigilante

Yes @Anonymous I thought I'd drop in a couple in my OP to get the ball rolling.

Yes @MauriceC the 'of' replacement for 'have' really gets me hot under the collar.

Re: Grammar Vigilante

I also hate that expression " should of" it really grates with me.

Another pet bugbear is the ending of a sentence with "and stuff"!  You frequently hear people say " we went to the cinema, had a meal out and a few drinks and stuff. What is that all about?

Re: Grammar Vigilante

@Strat, not to mention @MauriceC's use of 'theirs' and not there is. Of course responding to a post like this is asking for trouble as someone will no doubt point out the next time I make a mistake, just as well no one is perfect. Wink

Edit:- Apart from the @agedgopher, of course!

@Anonymous   Sorry but you are wrong. I used to be conceited and big-headed but now I am perfect.

Re: Grammar Vigilante

Seems somewhat ironic that someone who spends their time correcting punctuation would call themselves a grammar vigilante...
