But we will all be paying extra (approx 25p) on line rental because of the 2.5% VAT rise  Cry

quite right.  using an existing business to collect a nationwide tax is unacceptable.  there is a government agency for tax collection.  the labour lot went a bit batty at the end there with some of their outlandish schemes.
