Gotta love em'

Desperate at times to find some unbiased news, the HuffPost for what it's worth seems honest enough because when going on the site up pops 'we've noticed you've got an ad blocker installed' along with the option of clicking either 'I don't care' or 'show me how'

Brilliant.Thumbs_Up

Re: Gotta love em'

There are lots of sites doing much the same and I've been seeing similar for many many months now.

Ah right, it's just that HuffPost is the only one I've seen it on.

Maybe I need to go on-line more. Wink

Re: Gotta love em'

I don't use adblockers. I'm not all "take, take, take" like some people. I like to give a little too so that the internet remains as reasonably free of charge as possible.

If that means ebay can put adverts on abc.com showing what i last looked at then so be it. I even accept cookies. At the end of the day many of these large companies run their sites on advertising revenue and if they lose that they'll vanish.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Gotta love em'

I do have an adblocker, and it's only very few sites I whitelist. What I don't like especially are sites that unblocked bombard you with flashing, all dancing, headache causing dross. Give me still contnet every time.

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: Gotta love em'

It doesn’t suit everyone to use Ad blockers I appreciate that, but considering the amount of information that is leaked to these services to make them personalised makes me think twice.

Re: Gotta love em'

I use ad blockers, but I whitelist certain sites, such as open source projects/communities, sites that I genuinely find useful, but don't take the [-Censored-] with ads etc. As for sites that block ad blockers, they can go whistle...

Re: Gotta love em'

I use an ad-blocker purely to defeat advertisers who produce intrusive adverts. If they were all passive, and didn't steal excessive processor/network capacity I  wouldn't block them.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Re: Gotta love em'

I use an ad blocker too, I pay to use the internet, not to watch adverts, if I wanted to pay a monthly fee to watch adverts, I'd get sky... Crazy
