Google Chromecast

Head above parapet time.
I bought a Google Chromecast (£25) mostly out of curiosity.
I must say I'm absolutely underwhelmed by it.
Much of what it appears to do my PS3 also does.
I was a little disappointed that I can't stream my videos to it from my phone but need a paid for app.
Would I be fair in saying that the rest of the technological world has already made the Chromecast pretty redundant...........or am I missing something?
Does anyone else have one and make good use of it.

Re: Google Chromecast

Its £25 and I think  you've missed the point of it.
I use mine all the time,  for YouTube, Play Movies/Music, Podcasts,  iPlayer etc

Its £25
Huh
I was expecting to be able to stream stuff directly from my phone or tablet to my TV but it looks like I need either a phone upgrade from my Samsung S3 to an S4 / S5 or a upgrade of the Android (come on Samsung).

Re: Google Chromecast

My point is its a £25 device.
And you're comparing it to a much more expensive device, and complaining it doesn't offer features it doesn't claim to (out of the box).

Re: Google Chromecast

Point taken.
It is in use plugged into the back of my A/V amp and I have a more basic TV in the bedroom where I can use it to watch Netflix so it's not like I'm saying it's a waste of money.
Just that with all the hype from Google I was expecting a bit more compatibility.
