Google ATAP - Project Ara

Anyone know if its dead or alive these days?
TORPC posted a topic about it ages ago and initially i wasn't overly enthusiastic about the thingbut as the months went on i started to look forward to seeing what it could do and every 3-4 months i look it up again.
Today was that such day! Guess what? Virtually no updates about it. They were supposed to be trialling it this year... but i've not seen or heard anything about it.
So.. anyone know if they're still working on this or not?

I suppose the availability now of cheap smart phones and plenty of even cheaper second hand ones has made this not so commercially viable.
Dodgy magnets or not.
But google must have realised that from the start.

Well from my POV it is a great idea (I wasn't so agreeable in TORPCs topic but i've changed my mind).
Being able to hot swap different bits of hardware on a phone as if its a pc is a super idea. But why on earth would they want to use power draining magnets and electro magnets? Thats just a bonkers idea.
