I've been watching HD on the BBC and others for a while now.

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm afraid you probably won't be able to receive FreeView HD with your existing TV. It would need to have a Freeview HD receiver and if your TV is 4 years old its not going to have one. Being HD ready only means its capable of the resolution required for HD. To receive HD you would probably need to get a separate Freeview HD receiver box.

Re: Good Lord i will soon be able to use my hd ready tv

And 'HD Ready' means it is something like 768 vertical lines which isn't the full HD of 1080 vertical lines.

Re: Good Lord i will soon be able to use my hd ready tv

The world renowned thinktank of which I am a member, the name of which of course, and I’m sure you’ll understand this, I cannot disclose, considered this HD issue some time ago and came to the correct conclusion that it’s an Iranian plot to buy all the companies that build this equipment during the coming double-dip recession at a snip and then overthrow western imperialism using the profits (if you’ll pardon the pun) from everyone updating and correcting their equipment at a much increased price; only we weren’t too sure whether it was Iran or Sark
Oh yes, by the way, pestilence, famine and plagues of frogs due……er…..about 3rd week in June 2015…or thereabouts

@p_p - Our LU7 7T* postcode shows Freeview HD from mid April 2011 on Sandy Heath Anglia.
Fortunately our new set has built in Freeview HD tuner and is 1080p, 100Hz.  Cheesy

@ thisoldman - unfortunately you'll need to purchase an HD Freeview box as there's no simple tweek that you can do to get HD on your existing set.
