Good Housekeeping

As sometime slightly reluctant chief house-husband, head chef, housekeeper, ironing manservant, window cleaner, gardener, laundry operative. Nurse, carer and general dogsbody.
The burning question is; when hanging socks on the washing line do you, hang by the toe or the heel?
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: Good Housekeeping

Toe, hung in matched pairs. Then when dry you just roll the open ends together before un-pegging.

Re: Good Housekeeping

By the opening at the top on one edge so the sock is open.
Actually I never hang socks on the line. They always go on a drying rack in the spare room along with underwear whatever the weather.

Re: Good Housekeeping

I think I'm the same as Strat.  I don't intentionally do it either way, so I'll be checking next time I hang them up!

Re: Good Housekeeping

What's washing?
We seem to have a big white machine in the bathroom that eats dirty clothes then regurgitates them as clean a few hours later. When I next see them they are neatly ironed and ready for wearing.
Not sure, but I think SWMBO is involved in this somehow...

Re: Good Housekeeping

life's too short to hang out the small cloths they go in the dryer  and come out nice and soft an just need putting in the drawer ready for next time there needed.
but I do believe the slaves children used to do that when we had a line up, but that was before the garden got invaded by grow your own troughs and the line went in the shed to make space for all the veg.....

Oh yes!! so why do I always seem to end up with an odd pair?
I used to wear them like that, if asked I would reply uhmm! I have another pair just like it at home...

Maybe they have a bath installed in the same room as the washer and cooker.
When I was a lad we bathed in the same room as the cooker (a Yorkshire Range). It was a galvanised steel bath.
