Re: Golden Syrup Disposal

Adulthood has taught me that what I was always taught, was not necessarily right.  I remember my teacher claiming that it was i before e except after c, i.e. field, believe etc, but receive, ceiling etc.  Being in one of my more cheeky moods, and remembering his first name, I responded with, "That's weird, Neil."  We wouldn't normally address teachers by their first name, but I felt it was justified on this occasion in order to make a valid point, one which he gracefully accepted.

Even today, kids complete their compulsory education with an A* in English but with little understanding of how the language works.  Great at political correctness, left-wing ideology, and their rights, not so good at English, Maths etc.

Re: Golden Syrup Disposal

I'm a Golden Syrup addict and I just have to stir the can. I've tried to give it up but it's a viscous circle. Embarrassed
