Gimme a cookie?

All the big UK websites are now popping up little messages asking you to accept their cookies so you can use their site:
The sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/
The Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/
This is Wiltshire: http://www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/
They're all at it now - including the job sites.
What was the point in this draconian piece of legislation? You can't really personally identify someone from a cookie unless they've already joined your website and fiven you their details so what does this actually do? Cookies have for the last 10 years been seen as some sort of threat that could see your name and address being found out by any website and thats far from the truth. Do our ministers understand ANYTHING? Do they ever do any proper research?
Apart from being an annoyance on these websites now this serves no real purpose.
/Rant.

Re: Gimme a cookie?

Something about cookies appears at the top of my Banking page..... I just ignore it and carry on....
Lets face it... if you don`t "accept" cookies.... you can`t do what you wanted to on the website.... so .... pretty pointless in them asking..... Undecided

Re: Gimme a cookie?

It's not something that's been passed in Parliament.  It's an EU law Wink
