Funny or in bad taste

This is a true story.

A neighbour of ours went to a funeral service at the local crematorium and whilst the coffin was disappearing behind the curtains the song being played was, 'Wake me up before you go go......'

The attitude of those attending were a mix of those who found it funny to others who clearly did not approve.

No idea who choose the music.

What would your reaction have been ?

Re: Funny or in bad taste

Yes I'd find that funny as well Grin

Normally the close family choose the songs and they would have known the wishes of the deceased.

Re: Funny or in bad taste

It will not be an issue for mine as both the Mrs and I plan to have a David Bowie type send off. Straight to the crematorium with no funeral celebration. This sort of thing.

Re: Funny or in bad taste

Guess they might have played 'Staying Alive' or even 'Light my Fire' Smiley

I have heard that 'Return to Sender' is a popular choiceGrin

Or the screamingly obvious "Knocking on heaven's door".

Re: Funny or in bad taste

Can't remember the music for the 'curtains' bit, but I once went to funeral where the Clash's 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go?' was played.

The older I get, the earlier it gets late.

Re: Funny or in bad taste

Funny gets my vote.

Wife and I have been talking about what we want for our funerals. My choice is A bouncy castle for the kids ( I want them to remember me as a fun loving grandad - I often get on bouncy castles etc with them. I don't want them miserable). Music choice should be 'Wheels on the bus'.  It's made my life a misery, so let's share the misery. But real choice is Don't worry, be happy.

Re: Funny or in bad taste

Well you'll not get much change out of a couple of grand, if any.

Go straight to the crematorium, do not pass go, and leave what you've saved to your grandkids to pay for lots of bouncy castle fun!

I like your way of thinking though I must admit as I'm granddad to seven, soon to be eight.
