From our Naval Correspondent

'We allowed standards to drop': US Navy ADMITS it is using under-trained sailors and uncertified ships as senior officials begin probe into the two aircraft carrier collisions that left 17 dead

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4869378/We-allowed-standards-drop-Navy-ADMITS.html

When a quick check on Wiki shows that the two ships were NOT aircraft carriers...

USS John McCain

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_John_S._McCain_(DDG-56)

USS John S. McCain (DDG-56) is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer

and the other one

USS FItzgerald.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Fitzgerald

USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62),  is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in the US Navy

Seems to me the Daily Mail have  "allowed standards to drop"   ! ! ! ! !

Re: From our Naval Correspondent

Sad sign of the times.

Many different skills are being lost all around the country.

Re: From our Naval Correspondent

We should be rebuilding naval skills in this country:

  • A large fleet of Coastal protection cutters, with missile and depth charge capability;
  • Destroyers to protect the two large expensive white elephants;
  • Disaster rescue ships equipped with town sized electricity generators, fresh water generators, communications and hospital facilities to be sent to disaster areas.

Of course these vessels should be built in the UK.  Now where can we find £35 Billion to fund this?

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

Have you checked the back pockets of the nation's politicians? There's usually a lot of taxpayer money hidden there... Funny

Also, try down the back of the sofa, there's always the odd coin or two down there... Crazy
