Re: Freeview to get HD TV from 2009

I was planning to buy an 'HD ready' TV in the near future, but if existing stand-alone freeview boxes will need to be replaced in order to receive HD broadcasts, what does this mean for 'HD-ready' TVs with freeview, or freeview PVRs?

Nadger,
If it does is there any chance that Postini will deliver it OK.

Re: Freeview to get HD TV from 2009

Getting back on topic.........possibly not.

BBC positive spin, that finally licence payers will reap the benefits of their licence fee, which is currently funding HD programmes which are only available to cable/satellite subscribers.
Reality check. To get HD we will need to get another set-top box (how many can you balance on top of an LCD TV?), and the number of channels available on the 'old' boxes will be reduced. Currently available 'HD-ready' equipment will become redundant, those who can't afford to upgrade will buy new on credit, and chuck the old into the nearest square metre of brownfield land that developers want to build flats on, no-one will be able to afford to buy these flats because of the credit squeeze. I feel a rant coming on, and its nearly the start of the weekend. Will somebody please put the kettle on and pass me an extra strength camomile teabag (make that two)
