Re: Freeview Retune tomorrow - 19th Sept 2012

I've had popups, but only on my HD Freeview recorders, as I gather it's mostly a change to Freeview HD services.
My SD Freeview recorders and TV's I haven't seen any popups.
I'm on Freeview Lite, a local rebroadcast transmitter, so most changes won't affect myself.
I've been watching this on
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1705300
for a while now, since I contributed to the thread back in July.
Probable changes on the North West Winter Hill Transmitter Mux for Manchester also.

Yes, it's the same thread
As an ex Broadcast TV Professional, I follow a lot of the TV Tech forums on DS.
As I'm on Freeview Lite as mentioned, the SD changes don't affect me, and presumably that is why I have had no popups on my SD equipment.

Oh not again.. our area has only recently officially got Freeview and we've got to retune already?
This is utter madness.  Angry

There is a list of forthcoming changes here under the heading "Future channels and events"

Mind you it is good to see that Freeview is updating the platform.  I only have Freeview and am pleased with it.

Yes it must be said, despite all the retunes they insist on every year freeview is pretty good. Quest is my favourite channel, with so many cool programs about big engineering stuff its wonderful. At least on a miserable Sunday with fog hanging around you have more than Footie on BBC1, Cricket on BBC2, Footie on ItV and Horse racing on C4 - you can actually watch something else that you enjoy instead!

I still wonder why there are pay to view channels on Freeview like G.O.L.D and Sky Sports Undecided

Bit of a naïve question, but do ‘pay-to-view’ channels have advertisements?

Re: Freeview Retune tomorrow - 19th Sept 2012

I think the PTV are part of topup tv, as to adverts who knows?  Grin
I remember years ago when I used to have sky (analog) and the adverts on PAY TV really annoyed me, I mean I was paying £££'s for the service and having to watch adverts as well  Crazy I assume it hasn't changed, as every-time I see an ex-sky program it always has "space" for the ads in it - like an "hour long" episode takes 42min in real time.
