Re: Frank Carson Dies

He was one of the "old school" comedians, hardly any of them left now which is a great shame as the contemporary comedians are not a patch on the old greats in my opinion.  I can hardly imagine the likes of the obnoxious foul-mouthed Frankie Boyle and the irritating and totally unfunny Jimmy Carr, not forgetting Sarah Millican who tries to make people laugh and fails miserably, still being around 30 years from now.    My all time favourite of the "old school" was the unforgettable and great Les Dawson. I used to love his dead pan humour and those hilarious comedy sketch with the equally brilliant Roy Barraclough as Cissy and Ada.  The only modern comedian who actually makes me laugh is Peter Kay but even he seems to be lacking good material lately.

Re: Frank Carson Dies

Les Dawson was one of my favourites particularly on the piano.
Frank Carson will be sadly missed as a very funny man.

Re: Frank Carson Dies

One of my all time favourites was Tony Hancock. His blood donor was a classic. Impeccable timing.

Re: Frank Carson Dies

This man is really off-beat and takes some getting used to but he is so funny:

Re: Frank Carson Dies

Once went to see Ken Dodd (got free tickets as my late dad was his cousin) - he was on stage for something like 4 hours (still going strong at midnight) ........... didn`t particularly like him before but fair play to him - he held the audience in the palm of his hands and some of his routine was hilarious (although not the daft flippin Diddy Men) Roll eyes    I think he`s still performing and touring even though he must be in his eighties now.

And he was from Knotty Ash (I always used to think it was fictitious) but apparently it does exist.

Yes he is well known for giving value for money with some very long shows. Not always popular with theatre staff Cool

Re: Frank Carson Dies

Frank Carson was a funny guy, like many of his era, unlike these numpties on TV now who are as funny as a poke in the eye with a pointed stick

In other news, a historical fact: Ken Dodd's dog, a Standard poodle, bit me on the bum

Re: Frank Carson Dies

You may like to give the dog a bone, I did not. I re-focused the poodles strategy with the steel toe cap of my size ten pit boots.
Mr Dodd was blissfully unaware of the drama that occurred on the pathway  to his front door.
