Ford Kuga

Ford Kuga

Anyone got one ?

One of our Jeep Grand Cherokees is starting to show its age, so we are looking to replace it.

Jeep don't do a petrol version of the GC anymore, apart from the ridiculously expensive, and very fast, GC Trackhawk version.

Launch control has to be experienced to be believed, not for the faint hearted !

Having looked around, the best option at the moment appears to be a Ford Kuga, which meets what we like.

Petrol engine, automatic gearbox, and AWD

And there is a Ford Garage not too far from where we are.

(0% apr finance too !)

So, anyone got one, or looked into buying one ?

(The standard Ford heated windscreen is a plus point, for when the Winter arrives round here .... heated Steering Wheel too !)

However, Honda are introducing a Hybrid CR-V SUV early next year, I could be tempted.

Re: Ford Kuga

My neighbour has a Kuga, and is largely happy with it but, be careful which colour you buy. His is metallic gold (or near that) following accident damage (not his fault) he had terrible trouble trying to find a bodyshop that would consider repairing it, because they said the paint was almost impossible to obtain a match, meaning that a relatively small area of damage needed the entire side of the car to resprayed.

I believe it was eventually done by a Ford main dealer. Initially, I think it was the plan to have it done off insurance (his wife was driving the other car in their drive). But because of the horrendous cost had to, with the consequent hit on his NCB.

Three weeks later, he was hit again in a supermarket car park with more body damage, fortunately he was sitting in his car, so the other driver couldn't disappear.

Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

I always buy just plain colours, Black, White, Blue etc, for that very reason.

Metallic gold - now there’s a discreet colour. Just who are your neighbours ?

Re: Ford Kuga

Well, I did say nearly, I suppose you'd call it antique gold: this colour: https://carpaintcode.vernicispray.co.uk/3-en-448-12036-ford-kuga-5.jsp

I note they call it a shade of green, it doesn't look very green to me, Ok then antique gold with a tinge of pale green.

Still looks like antique gold to me..

Re: Ford Kuga

I once had a Corsa in metallic gold. It was quite a smart looking colour, understated and not too 'bling' at all. I never had any bodywork done on it though so don't know how hard it would have been to repair.

Re: Ford Kuga

I don't know whether it's still the case, but Red cars always seemed to lose their colour faster than other colours..

Re: Ford Kuga

Ford if I recall around the time of the Mk1/2 Escort and Fiesta had problems with some shades of red (rosso red springs to mind) there were horror stories of being able to peel the paint coat from the roof of some cars, think that might be an exaggeration though. But I do recall some very faded red Fords.

Guess what !!!

Had a couple of test drives of Kugas today.......... And I bought a brand new one !

Going for Black, it looks magnificent.

Petrol engine, automatic gearbox, and AWD

And 0% finance, with a negotiated discount

Now I just have to wait 12 weeks for it to be constructed from scratch !

Due end of November, just in time for Winter...

Excellent patient salesman, who spent 3 hours looking after me.

Local roads, plus some motorway driving.

From rest, not as quick as the Jeep GC, but once going, acceleration is good and punchy.

The countdown begins.............

The countdown has been shortened !

Just had a phone call from  Ford Salesman Ian...

The expected lead time has been reduced to 6/8 weeks.

Confirmed build notification today, will take about 3 weeks to complete in Valencia, plus another 3 weeks for shipping to the UK.

Hand built from scratch.

Hopefully no delays due to J.I.T.

Re: Ford Kuga

I have to admit it does look good in Black, shame its got poor reviews, but everyone's experience and opinion is different.

P.S. Is there a white blaze on the bonnet? Wink

@Mook

I'd be more concerned about a blaze under the bonnet!

Re: Ford Kuga

I'm beginning to hate any SUV whatever the make. Waiting in the left lane of a junction or roundabout It's guaranteed an SUV will pull up in the outside lane.  Unable to see anything coming from the right I have to wait till they've moved.

My next vehicle may well be a bus............
