Flooding is now a real threat after all the rain.

SKY News
Hottest Temperature Of The Year Expected Today
The hot spell is expected to reach its highest temperatures before thunderstorms bring it to a "dramatic end".

The Midlands and the south of England are the likely contenders for the hotspots of the day, before violent thunderstorms bring an end to the heatwave.
The UK has seen its longest prolonged heatwave in seven years (SKY), although temperatures dipped slightly over the weekend.
Today, the mercury is expected to reach 33ºC (91.4ºF)
The hottest day of the year so far had been last Wednesday at Hampton waterworks, south west London, with highs of 32.2ºC (90ºF).
And with 30°C (86°F) expected for tomorrow, the 18th day above 28°C (82°F), it will be the longest heatwave since 1976. (According to the Sun)

Well all I heard this morning was a rumble of thunder - no rain (in Chigwell, Essex). Please please can we have some rain! The grass looks a very pale straw colour Smiley

Managed to complete a bowls match tonight, in south Worcestershire; towards the end it darkened slightly and a few distant flashes were seen and rumbles heard.
A short sharp shower after the match. Still feels hot and clammy.

Bit of thunder a little while ago (Northampton), now 'tiddling' down.  Still really warm and unbearably humid.

Thunder & Lightning

Windows now closed, tightly !
I'm prepared for local lightning, even with surge protection.
iMac etc unplugged if it gets worse.
And Power Cut strategy in place......
Torches, Gas Portable Stove, Radio etc... Early Shower.
Getting noisier & closer now...

Re: Rain, Rain and more Rain, Thunderstorms on the way

Wow.....
Apocalypse & Armageddon combined.
It was so dark, for an hour 6:15 to 7:15am, it was darker than Night.
Torrential Rain, Lots of Lightning not far away at all, very loud and close Thunder.

With all this, why does it take around 3 minutes for my iMac to Shut down ?
I could just have pulled the plug, but it takes ages to reboot then.

At least there was no power cut, the LED backup lanterns were switched on.
SKY lost signal, though Freeview was OK.
87% humidity just after the Event.

(I had only just watered my Hanging Baskets & Container plants at 5:30am )

Got a vets singles match tonight (Tuesday 23rd) right in the middle of the forecast storms. About the only time bowlers get really worried and stop playing, otherwise we'll play through most weather. The perception is that bowls is only played in fine sunny conditions, if that were the case then there wouldn't be much bowls played in the UK.
We must have a game sometime...
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.
