Earliest one I remember was when they had phpBB, so it should have a primary key.
So if they still have the backups, it should be a case of:
SELECT MIN(Primary Key Field) INNER JOIN (Post table on forums).

That's an interesting question as I had not realised there were earlier versions.
Perhaps the very earliest versions are no longer accessable so the question cannot be answered but exactly how many versions are there and what is meant by a version, for example when the forum moved over to lithium was that classed as a new version or is a new version something else ?

A quick look at a few boards and the earliest posts date from around early April 2007 when it was moved to SMF. I remember the move and was one early registration members to ensure I got Mav
I seem to remember that the SMF forum started afresh losing all previous posts.
Previous to that your forum name had to be the same as your broadband login.
Edit: The Plusnet forum was the first forum I joined.

I wonder how many people actually started using the forum before they had a problem or question?
I initially started using the forum when I wanted to know if there was any way to get a faster connection and thanks to knowledgeable members at the time I did manage to improve it a lot.
I imagine the first post on the first forum was probably "Hello is there anybody here?"

I joined the Plusnet fold early December 2002 and the forums soon after.
I had forgotten about the archive section and it looks like this could have been the first post from 2001?
This seems to be the first thread I started and, possibly, my first post as well from 29/12/2002.
Amazing that there are members from those early years still posting!
Edit: I believe my sentiment at message #10 hasn't changed since then

Yup! I joined shortly after the move to SMF back in 2007.
