Filling out a Form

How can you fill out a form?
Easy
Get a form that's been filled in and erase all content in the boxes. Roll eyes
You can't fill out a form any more than you can fill out a hole in the road.
A form has spaces to be filled in with letters and numbers...right?Huh

Re: Filling out a Form

I think this statement sums it up....
[quote=http://www.openwriting.com/archives/2007/09/the_dove_dove_i_1.php]You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on.

Re: Filling out a Form

Along the same lines, I used to have a Maltese friend who said that alarm clocks should ‘go on’ when they ring not ‘go off’. I saw her logic

Re: Filling out a Form

Strictly speaking ...... you don't fill out/in a form. You merely apply a partial surface layer of ink in a patterned format on to a piece of preprinted paper.

Could you provide a similarly derived explanation for entering the required information on an online or electronic form please?

Re: Filling out a Form

My understanding is that originally putting the ball down behind the opponent’s try line gave your team no points but entitled you to try to kick the ball between the posts, thus earning points. Then later on, obviously, scoring a try became more valuable (in points terms) to kicking the conversion
