F35B stealth fighters could arrive TOMORROW ....

R.A.F. Marham, is expecting the new F35B jet fighters to arrive "soon" and  according to the ITV report, "soon" could be anytime from TUESDAY onwards...

http://www.itv.com/news/2018-06-04/big-interest-in-arrival-of-f-35-lightning-stealth-fighter-jets-to...

Interestingly.... H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth is due to sail from Portsmouth at about 1700 - 1730 tomorrow Tuesday...

but I don`t think that the jets will be landing on her ..... just yet....

Is this the aircraft for the aircraft carrier that has no aircraft?

Re: F35B stealth fighters could arrive TOMORROW ....

Yes.... and it will have those aircraft..... all in good time....  they have to arrive from the USA... which.. is a long way away... and the aircraft handlers, and the pilots, and the aircrafte engineers, and  a whole load of other ground crew, have been in training over in the USA.  so that when the planes arrive, they will be able to "hit the deck"... and be properly serviced and used, in accordance with normal, and probably, some abnormal, circumstances. Meanwhile, the aircraft carrier, with no planes, has just been brought into service, and the "on board" crew have also been going through training and learning procedures, to enable efficient fighting capability of the ship, when the aircraft are on board. it may seem to be an amusing comment to make, but you should take some time to understand that this is a "new" type of ship, with new systems and equipment. which all take time to pull together.

If you can`t get your head around the complexities of the ship, and the systems, the equipment, and the need to spend time training to a very high level,  to make it efficient, and safe for ALL the crews involved in high speed jets landing and taking off from a small mobile airfield, in some hazardous conditions at times,   then I suggest you refrain from showing it in public on this forum.

Pedro says spares might be a problem....

If they're so stealthy, how would you know when they've arrived?

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

One advantage of being a naval pilot is that you are not expected to make a smooth landing! Tongue

They look good.

I was just watching the pilot in his F35B and thinking 'what an amazing place to be'

I didn't notice the pilot carrying any rubbish with him as he climbed out of the cockpit, I'll bet he's left a load of crisp packets and orange peel.  Wink

You may like to "imagine" you are a pilot on here then.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFzRtOuj5GQ

Short version showing take off and landing skills...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=au8j7ynqi3I

And for those who ridicule an aircraft carrier with no planes..... take a good look at the guys who are handling those planes on that tiny airfield.... they are aged between 17 and 25  (mostly around 18 to 21 )... and have been through much training to be able to carry out their individual parts to get those planes in the air, and back safely on the deck, and into the hangar below.

The pilots, have also got to train, how to handle the plane, weapons etc, and then........ land and take off from a moving, rolling, pitching airfield, day and night time.
