Ennio Morricone

Sad to hear of the death of Ennio Morricone at 91.

He produced some iconic film scores like Chi Mai, A Fistful of Dollars trilogy and so much more.

I was surprised when looking on Wikipaedia exactly how many scores he did write.

Re: Ennio Morricone

Yes some of his scores are quite iconic. He went to school with Sergio Leone too who directed some of the spaghetti westerns of course.

Yes, he was amazingly prolific, yet always producing such high quality. Interesting to read that it was shortage of money that led to the atmospheric soundtracks of his Westerns:

Because budget strictures limited Morricone's access to a full orchestra, he used gunshots, cracking whips, whistle, voices, jew's harp, trumpets, and the new Fender electric guitar, instead of orchestral arrangements of Western standards à la John Ford.

Thanks Ennio and RIP.
